Yes. All our course videos have captions and a transcript, through Vimeo, the video player we use. In the live sessions, you can turn on Zoom’s own captions.
How do I turn on captions? #
Through the video player itself: click “CC” and choose your language. Because the recordings are hosted on Vimeo, a transcript of the recording is available in the player too. On our older recordings the captions are Vimeo’s automatic ones, so they sometimes get words wrong. On our newer course videos they are not generated automatically: we prepare them ourselves, using the terminology we teach, and every line is checked.
Are there subtitles in other languages? #
Yes. Our newer course videos have subtitles in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Slovenian and Norwegian, as well as English. They are far more accurate than generic automatic translation, because they are prepared with the specific terminology and vocabulary we use, and every line is checked. Study guides are available in these languages on request, and we are happy to add other languages if you ask.
What about the live sessions? #
Zoom has its own captions, which you can switch on for yourself during a session.
What if I find the sound hard to hear? #
The recordings are made with the microphone set as high as it will go. If you still find them too quiet, volume-boosting software on your own device can help. The captions and transcript are there too.
