Do I need to read the books in order?

It is best to, because each book builds on the one before. Rewilding Yourself opens with a recap of the first book, and Finding Your Deep Soul assumes some experience of journeying. Within a book, you are mostly free to dip in and out.

Why is the order best? #

Because the books are a series, not a set of separate titles. Finding Your Deep Soul follows straight on from Rewilding Yourself: together they make one long exploration of the Lower-WorldLower-World. The realm of Mother Earth: pure, unspoilt, wild nature, with no technology and no agriculture. Home of the Peoples and of our own Soul, and completely safe: feeling threatened in a journey is a reliable sign of not having reached it. Read the full answer and its practices. Read out of order, you will meet ideas whose groundwork was laid earlier.

Do the later books recap the earlier ones? #

Rewilding Yourself does. It opens with a recap chapter, which will hopefully still be of use to those who have already read the first book, and that chapter also includes new information which is not in the first book.1 Finding Your Deep Soul does not recap in the same way: it “does assume some basic experience and ability in doing shamanic journeys”, and suggests reading The Shamanic Journey first if you are entirely new to journeying.2

Can I read the chapters within a book in any order? #

Mostly, yes. Rewilding Yourself can be read in any order that suits you, skipping bits you are not interested in, though unless you already know Therapeutic Shamanism you will probably need to read Chapter One first, or be “pretty lost in the rest of the book”.3 Finding Your Deep Soul can likewise be treated as a reference book to dip in and out of, skipping chapters altogether if you like.4
